fans of Breton music, and those looking to experience something different, don't miss THE event of the year in Morbihan! The town of Lorient becomes the interceltic capital for the duration of the festival: ten days of events featuring more than 200 concerts and artistic shows celebrating Celtic countries and their cultures. There is always something taking place in the streets of Lorient from daybreak to nightfall, and all tastes are catered for. Music is the primary entertainment available, of course, but there is also literature, cinema, street arts, games, sports, food and drink and more. The hardest thing is choosing! Must see: the grand parade that takes place on the first Sunday, with its procession of bagadous (Breton pipe bands) and Celtic circles (associations that promote Breton culture) arrived from Brittany, France and all the Celtic nations that the festival brings together. It is a succession of costumes, colours, dancing and musical sounds from other lands, all held in a festive, family atmosphere. And try not to miss the "Interceltiques nights" (interceltic nights) either, the festival's flagship events. A vast stage is constructed at the Moustoir stadium and, over five evenings, more than 500 musicians and artists perform in a series of wonderful, magical concerts! You will come out of it starry-eyed, and with a sudden desire to try a few dance steps yourself. No. problem, the organisers have thought of everything! There is the Fest-NOZ for the night owls, Fest-deiz for daytime dancers, and daily Breton dancing sessions for beginners: choose your pleasure, join and the circle!
The Lorient Interceltic Festival is not only a living showcase for Celtic culture, it is also, and above all, an open door to the world, and an invitation to join in. Request the program! And if you don't get the chance to do everything this year, return again next year!
