LE FAOUËT AND ITS SURROUNDINGS: NATURE AND HERITAGE AWAIT YOU ON YOUR HOLIDAY!

Enjoy a 100% heritage stopover in the heart of Brittany: religious buildings, old stones and wideopen spaces guaranteed!

WHEN NATURE RHYMES WITH MEDITATION

Leave the freeway and head off the beaten path to discover a land rich in stories and colours. Here it is green that dominates: meadows, woodlands and green pastures flow through the valleys, offering visitors a real breath of fresh air. Be inspired: the Morbihan countryside spreads out its contours before your eyes. Breathe out and let go. The noise of the city fades away and is replaced by bird song and the rippling of the river. To fully enjoy it, there is nothing like a walk, bike or horse ride on one of the many marked circuits throughout King Morvan's country. Churches and chapels tell you the story of the first king of united Brittany. Here stands the Abbey of Our Lady of Langonnet, there the chapel Saint Fiacre, home to one of the oldest rood screens in Brittany, and further still, the chapel of St. Barbara Faouët emerges, revealing breath-taking architecture!

"

Most surprising yet, near Plouray, the Tibetan Buddhist Drukpa centre invites you to meditate in its highly colourful atmosphere." A change of scenery guaranteed!

LE FAOUËT CITY ART AND STONE

The village of Le Faouet is easily identifiable by its impressively sized, ancient covered markets. Imagine the atmosphere on market days, when cows and horses were showed to sharp eyed buyers. That was in the 16th century. The covered markets attracted crowds and had already inspired many artists. Over the centuries, painters and photographers have immortalized moments of everyday life which are now exhibited in Le Faouët museum. A walk in the city will plunge you into central Brittany's history. Who knows, maybe you will hear the famous story of Marion of Faouët on a street corner. She was the 18th century female version of Robin Hood!
