Dolmen des Pierres Plates

A richly decorated, unique gallery grave.
The Pierres Plates dolmen is known as an angled grave due to the shape of its architecture. The passage changes direction after a few metres. At the turn, there is a small side chamber on the left. At the very end of the passage, a vertical slab appears to form a separation between the corridor and the burial chamber. The monument features several engravings that are typical of this type of “angled” architecture. It is difficult to identify what they represent – generally their shape is that of a buckle, divided into two parts containing circles and arcs.
At the entrance to the monument there is a menhir, placed there in the early twentieth century by Z. Le Rouzic. It formerly lay in front of the entrance to the monument, and may not have originally been a menhir but possibly a top stone on the dolmen.
The site has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1889.
