Nestling in the Blavet valley some thirty kilometres from Lorient, the village of Poul-Fétaninvite is a real journey through the corridors of history. Fully restored by the inhabitants of Quistinic, this small Breton hamlet is a faithful reflection of peasant life in the 19th century.
Pancakes made over a wood fire, butter-making, crushing the gorse for the horses, spinning wool on a wheel or braiding hemp rope … Welcome to the little village of Poul-Fétan, in Quistinic! A little village of cottages that takes us back to the countryside of the 19th Century. Here, time seems to have stopped as we discover the traditional activities of the Breton countryside and the Lorient region. Elegantly dressed as in the past, the village inhabitants welcome visitors with a smile and tell them about the “Brittany of the past”, the work in the fields and the buckwheat porridge. During the day, visitors can take part in a wide range of educational activities, learning how to work with hemp and wool, helping to feed the animals or having fun trying the “Birinic”, or Axle Lifting! Centuries of Breton traditions described like an open book …
